Meet us!

Pam Chamberlain

Registered Yoga Teacher

Pam (she/her) has been practicing yoga for over 25 years and teaching for 15 years. She was one of the first teachers to introduce plus-size yoga in Calgary, and her plus-size classes are always popular.

Pam teaches yoga as a life-long practice. She is particularly interested in the ways a yoga practice evolves as a result of injuries, weight gain, pregnancy, illness, and/or aging.

Pam teaches you to adapt yoga poses to suit your body. You’ll examine your patterns of movement with the aim of developing more functional movement, which will improve mobility, flexibility, and balance. Pam is encouraging and compassionate, and the class atmosphere is warm and welcoming.

Crystal Johanson

Registered Yoga Teacher

Crystal (she/her) has been regularly practicing yoga since 2014, when her sister suggested trying a plus-size yoga class together. Having access to an instructor with expert knowledge made a huge difference and cultivated a yoga practice that worked with her body. In 2018, Crystal received her 200-hour teacher’s certification from The Yoga Studio College of Canada. In 2020, she completed a 300-hour training in Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga. Additionally, she has taken workshops in accessible yoga, functional movement, mindfulness, anxiety and depression, and restorative yoga.

Crystal strives to make her classes welcoming to people who might not otherwise feel at home in yoga. She believes that yoga provides an opportunity to be present in your body in the moment. Her philosophy is that she is a guide making suggestions: she welcomes participants to notice their bodies and make their own choices.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and working in the mental health field, Crystal is interested in how systems of oppression impact the (physical, mental, and social) health of individuals, families, institutions and communities.  She regularly donates her yoga earnings to charities, non-profits, and individuals who work to combat those systems of oppression.
