About Explore Yoga
You know that yoga has so much to offer but maybe you’re unsure where to start.
Maybe you feel nervous about trying something new, anxious you’re doing something wrong or worried you’ll hurt yourself.
I’m so excited to share a new class called Explore Yoga to help you have fun and feel confident on the mat!
This class will include slow flowing movement, and time spent to deconstruct and understand common yoga asana (poses). You don’t have to touch your toes or be at a certain fitness level to join us. Variations will be provided and you’ll be encouraged to listen to your body, take breaks, or opt out of movements as you like.
There are two class options available: Explore Yoga 1 (with Chair), and Explore Yoga 2.
The intention of Explore Yoga is for you to:
Learn how to use yoga props (e.g., blocks, bolsters, blankets) to make the practice more accessible and more challenging
Feel confident in your understanding of common yoga asana that you will encounter in other yoga classes
Stretch and strengthen your body, plus challenge your balance in a beginner-friendly environment
We welcome students of all ages (including older adults), students who are plus-size or in bigger bodies, LGBTQIA+ students, and people who don’t feel comfortable going to larger yoga studios.

Explore Yoga 1 (with Chair)
Mondays | 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m | Nov. 4 - 25 (3 weeks, no class Nov. 11) (registration closed)
Mondays | 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m | Dec. 2 - 16 (3 weeks) | $63 (registration opens November 20)
This chair yoga class is intended for folks who:
are new to yoga or prefer a gentler yoga practice
are looking for an active practice but would like to use a chair for added stability while seated and standing
feel uncomfortable weight-bearing on wrists or knees due to injury, arthritis or mobility challenges
You can expect slow flow sun salutations (seated), the option to come to standing for a small portion of class, and a spacious relaxation at the end of class (can be practiced seated or down on the floor). Alternative movements and variations will be offered.
Class size is limited to 8 people.
This class is also available online on Thursday evenings. Please inquire.

Explore Yoga 2
Mondays | 1:15 - 2:30 p.m | Nov. 4 - 25 (3 weeks, no class Nov. 11) (FULL, registration closed)
Mondays | 1:15 - 2:30 p.m | Dec. 2 - 16 (3 weeks) | $63 (registration opens November 20)
This class is intended for folks who:
are looking for an active yoga practice (expect to sweat a little in this class!)
are new to yoga or coming back to the basics after time away
feel comfortable weight-bearing on wrists or knees (e.g., cat/cow, low lunge)
You can expect slow flow sun salutations (standing), various movements in seated, down on the floor (e.g. child’s pose), and in standing. A spacious relaxation will end the class. Alternative movements and variations will be offered.
Class size is limited to 7 people.

Classes are held at the Varsity Clinic in NW Calgary
REFUND POLICY: To provide individualized attention and to build community, we keep class sizes small. Because your fee reserves your spot in the class for the session, registration fees are non-refundable.
MISSED CLASSES: Because your registration fee saves your spot in the class for the session, refunds and prorating are not available for missed classes. Larissa teaches weekly classes online—if you miss a class you are welcome to join an online class!
