About Explore Yoga 1 (with Chair)

You know that yoga has so much to offer but maybe you’re unsure where to start.

Maybe you feel nervous that yoga isn’t for you, anxious you’re not strong or flexible enough, or worried you’ll lose your balance.

If you’re looking for a yoga class to build strength and improve balance, Explore Yoga 1 could be a great fit. In this class we use a chair for more stability in seated and standing movement.

This class is intended for folks who:

  • are new to yoga, returning to the foundations, or returning to yoga after time away

  • would like to build strength without the fear of losing your balance

  • feel uncomfortable weight-bearing on wrists or knees due to injury, arthritis or mobility challenges

You don’t have to touch your toes or be at a certain fitness level to join us. Variations will be provided and you’ll be encouraged to listen to your body, take breaks, or opt out of movements as you like. This class includes movement in seated, standing, and reclined (down on the floor).

The intention of this Chair Yoga class is for you to:

  • Strengthen your body, improve mobility in your joints, and challenge your balance in a beginner-friendly environment

  • Learn how to use yoga props (e.g., blocks, bolsters, blankets) to make the practice more accessible and more challenging

  • Feel confident in your understanding of common yoga asana and explore ways to practice yoga in a way that works for your body!

We welcome students of all ages (including older adults), students who are plus-size or in bigger bodies, LGBTQIA+ students, and people who don’t feel comfortable going to larger yoga studios.

Mondays | 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m | March/April registration is open soon!

Thursdays | 1:15 p.m. - 2:35 p.m | February 13, 20, 27 | $23 to drop-in

Class size is limited to 8 people.

This class is also available online on Thursday evenings. Please inquire.

REFUND POLICY: To provide individualized attention and to build community, we keep class sizes small. Because your fee reserves your spot in the class for the session, registration fees are non-refundable.

MISSED CLASSES: Because your registration fee saves your spot in the class for the session, refunds and prorating are not available for missed classes. Larissa teaches weekly classes online—if you miss a class you are welcome to join an online class!
